The Deacons are considered the compassionate, caring and service oriented body of the church.  The church membership can be interpreted as one of their major areas of care.  Both the Parish Nurses and the Care Partners are considered a ministry of the Deacons.  Therefore designating them as the board with responsibility and oversight of the church membership rolls can logically follow.

The area of "Service" is to provide the support necessary to make certain that all worship services and other services are cared for and supported with all necessary accouterments.  The area of "Service" also seeks to identify ways in which the Deacons are related to other boards inside the life of the church.  Some of the ways in which the Deacons respond in the area of "Service" are:

• Communion preparation

• Special service preparation (i.e. Maundy Thursday)

• Greeters for services

• Ushers for services

• Assisting the Pastor at Presbyterian Manor Chapel services

• Providing assistance for other nursing home worship services as requested

• Arranging for representatives to the Session and other assigned liaisons to Session Committees

• Those matters relating to "Service" as assigned by the Session or developed from the Board of Deacons or on the Pastor's recommendation
